Jacques and I were married today. We were surrounded by love (my mom, Robin; her partner, Monica; my brother, Alex; and good friend Kal, who also performed the ceremony), warmth (the last day of summer was incredibly sunny), and beauty (Mt. St. Helens from Council Crest). Jacques and Kal have known each other since 1993, so in addition to officiating, Kal served as an unofficial witness for J, and had many lovely things to say about him. We were really fortunate that he agreed to help us celebrate our marriage.

Luckily, we found them very quickly, just in time for our actual wedding on Friday, 21 September. (We chose the date because #1, it needed to be before 26 September [which is when our license expires], and #2, it’s the International Day of Peace. As my mom said, it should be a good anniversary because we’ll be fighting the rest of the year like everybody else. What a kidder!)
