Hot damn! I won the lottery!

Earlier this week, our 1-year-old French Bulldog Stitch had “an incident” at doggy day camp. As the day camp staff described it, “she got another dog’s tooth caught on her head.” Basically, Stitch saw a tennis ball in the mouth of a mellow, 9-year-old black lab, and hurled herself at it in an attempt to wrest it away. She succeeded only in scraping one of the dog’s teeth across her scalp.

When I picked her up a few hours later, she was running around crazily with a Scottie, a little patch of skin showing where the on-site vet had shaved it to assess the seriousness of the injury. It doesn’t seem to bother her in the least.

Lucy Asks, Seriously?

J and I started watching this show a few months ago, at which point [adult swim] immediately stopped airing it. Perhaps someday it will return to TV, but until then you can get your fill by downloading all the episodes from iTunes. Please do, and follow along with the gang as they variously attempt to destroy the earth, save the earth, and just get their freak on: Lucy, DJ Jesus, The Devil, the Special Fathers, and of course everyone’s favorite, the Special Sister, voiced quite memorably by Eugene Mirman. Pray and Enjoy.

Really, can you blame us?

Sporting apathy aside, I have to admit that I am proud-by-proxy that South Africa has taken home the 2007 Rugby World Cup. I watched my first rugby match (Springboks v. the All Blacks) at the Larkfield, Kent, England, UK home of my brother- and sister-in-law this past spring, and even though I had no clue what was happening I had a great time sipping my first shandy and listening to the commentary flying around the room. (My 7-year-old nephew, for instance, shouted at the TV in disgust at one point, “It’s rugby! It’s not a kicking competition!” I guess there was too much kicking in evidence, and not enough running, throwing, shoving, and/or beating the crap out of each other. How does rugby work, again?)
