Also in 1971, the Attica Prison action seeking improved prisoner treatment took place. 31 prisoners and 9 guards were killed when the action was eventually ended by the National Guard, prison guards, and local police.

I had laser vision correction surgery (of the LASIK variety) yesterday at OHSU’s Casey Eye Institute. My vision went from 20/200 (left) and 20/400 (right) to 20/15 in both eyes in one day. It’ll take a couple of months before things stabilize, but so far I’m pretty chuffed!
